OBO Bettermann congratulates its first Wimbledon champion
Max Schönhaus comes out on top in the Wimbledon final

Three years ago, OBO Bettermann made the right move, concluding a sponsoring agreement with the up-and-coming talent Max Schönhaus. Ever since, the company has sponsored this young tennis player, who captured the first German win in doubles at Wimbledon since 2009.
In the Wimbledon boys’ doubles tournament, Max Schönhaus and American Alexander Razeghi capped off a successful week with a victory against Czech duo Jan Klimas and Jan Kumstatt in the finals. Schönhaus and Razeghi celebrated 7:6 and 6:4 wins. With this Wimbledon triumph, Max Schönhaus has crowned his outstanding progress in recent weeks and months. He even outdid his result at the French Open, where he also reached the semifinals in the doubles event. Before that, he prevailed over Kaylan Bigun, currently number 1 in the world juniors ranking, in the third set of the ITF Roehampton Tournament.
“Max Schönhaus’ success at Wimbledon is a huge success for German tennis,” lauded DTB Head Trainer, Michael Kohlmann, in an association notice. For the 16-year-old, the victory at Wimbledon is also a personal highlight, as the grass tournament has always been his favourite Grand Slam tournament. In the warm-up area, he was even able to meet his tennis idol this year. With his win in the boys’ doubles, he is on the path towards becoming one of the greats in international tennis himself.
OBO is committed to sport
OBO supports tennis as one of the largest sponsors of the Terra Wortmann Open in Halle, amongst other ways. OBO helped Max Schönhaus, with his doubles partner Dustin Braun, gain some initial experience on the court at the invitational. Ever since 1993, the international ATP tournament has drawn thousands of avid sports fans to Westphalia each year.
German tennis pro Jan-Lennard Struff is also sponsored by OBO. He has already celebrated numerous successes this year. After reaching the quarter-final at the Terra Wortmann Open, he captured his first ATP tournament win in April at the BMW Open in Munich. The OBO logo on his shirt seems to bring him luck.
