“First-aiders of tomorrow” with Jona and Joni
OBO is on board!

“Helping is cool,” according to the Johanniter volunteers who successfully teach first aid to children in nurseries, daycare centres, schools and youth groups. Helping them along the way are hand puppets Jona and Joni.
To reinforce what the children have learned, the Johanniter volunteers teamed up with K&L Verlag to develop an easy-to-understand colouring, activity and work book, along with a poster and an app, which together form the core of an educational package for children aged five to eleven. And we think that’s a good thing!
This is why OBO is supporting the project
With its many colouring pages, the book teaches boys and girls the skills needed to perform first aid in emergencies and to recognise common everyday dangers at home, during leisure activities and in traffic.
Across 44 pages, Jona and Joni share their experiences in the world of helping. Based on examples that are appropriate for children, they provide tips and advice on first aid and prevention. At the same time, educators, pre-school teachers and parents can discuss and practice what is shown with the children. The app provides tutorial videos while also acting as a digital learning assessment tool. It shows the children whether they have done the tasks correctly, while encouraging them to complete the entire book.
With the support of many local companies, the colouring and work books, posters and app are distributed to daycare centres in the Johanniter Aller-Leine district free of charge. A cause we are proud to support. Would you like to learn more about the project?
