Products installed on the Norwegian Bliss cruise ship

As an official partner of the Meyer Werft boatyard, OBO Bettermann was involved in the megaproject that is the Norwegian Bliss and supplied solutions to fulfil the highest requirements in ship construction.

Project description

Fitted out like a small town – with everything the heart could desire and a bit more besides. The amount of entertainment, culture and fun offered by the Norwegian Bliss, from the Norwegian Cruise shipping company, is almost more than a medium-sized town. This floating giant has been built especially for Alaskan cruises. In the summer months, the Norwegian Bliss travels from Seattle to Alaska, whilst, in the winter, the ship travels through the Caribbean.

On cruise ships, the passenger areas have very high visual requirements. As an official partner of the Meyer Werft boatyard, OBO Bettermann was involved in the megaproject that is the Norwegian Bliss and supplied solutions to fulfil the highest requirements in ship construction.

General building information

On a total area of 167,800 GRT and a ship length of 333 metres, both the engine room and also the deck structures contain countless fastening clips, earthing pipe clamps, cable trays and cable ladders from the OBO Bettermann Group. The special solutions, such as cable ladders with lowered rungs, which OBO was able to deliver to the cruising giant, will barely be noticed by the passengers when they race around the ship's own go-kart track, eat in one of the twenty restaurants or watch the whales in the ocean in the relaxed atmosphere of the observation lounge on Deck 15.

Nothing is missing, neither in terms of equipment, nor with regard to comfort. The construction phase of the Norwegian Bliss lasted around one and a half years. The project, which cost 1.1 billion US dollars, was christened and, in the future, there will be space for 4,000 passengers and a crew of 1,700.

Were special solutions used?

The high-quality materials and finishes and their perfect processing easily fulfil the high corrosion protection requirements in ship construction. Products were installed from the connection and fastening systems, cable support systems and lightning and surge protection divisions.
