The OBO Bettermann Group is "Building Connections" at Light + Building

On a floor space of almost 1,000 square metres, OBO Bettermann – one of the market leaders in the area of electrical installation products – is presenting each of its seven product units at the Light + Building trade fair, the hotspot for design and modern building technology. OBO is an innovative leader for connection and fastening systems, transient and lightning protection systems, cable support systems, fire protection systems, cable routing systems, device systems and underfloor systems. This year, however, the family‐run company is featuring a new trade fair concept.

For the first time, the products are not presented separately from each other, but working together in relation to their areas of application. OBO is one of the 2,600 exhibitors that are presenting at the Light + Building trade fair, held on 250,000 square metres of hall space. The OBO slogan for the Light + Building 2016 fair “Building Connections” has since become the company’s. The slogan symbolises both the partnership between OBO’s employees and its customers, and the connections created by the company’s wide range of products when used together in a project.

To showcase this, the exhibition stand is divided into a construction phase and a functional phase, which is again subdivided into an industrial area and an area especially for architects. This means visitors can experience the world of OBO products hands‐on. The construction phases and the project phases are linked so target groups such as architects, planners, engineers, tradespeople and representatives from industry and commerce are addressed in a more focused way. The fact that every second one of the approximately 216,000 visitors comes from abroad shows the international importance of the fair and is not to be ignored.

This year’s official Light + Building motto “Connected – Secure – Convenient” fits OBO perfectly. These three words describe the company’s daily operations and its product world exactly. Connected refers also to digitisation – the importance of which can’t be overlooked – and OBO is investing heavily in the expansion of internal and external digitisation. Combined with secure products that are convenient to install, these three words are not only the motto of the family business, now in its fourth generation, they also represent an integral part of its daily work and its future.

The topic of digitisation runs continuously through the company’s fair concept. Some products at the stand are shown in a virtual reality application, where visitors can wear VR glasses and experience products at work – for instance, in a warehouse or fire protection products in action.

Another step towards digitisation is the new OBO app which is going to be installed on the OBO team’s mobile phones at the fair. The app enables them to provide the customer with all the information they require straight after the meeting. Another special feature will be the amazing presentation of underfloor products, showing in a modern holographic display exactly how the products work. Additionally, visitors can find touchpoints throughout the stand, inviting them to find out even more.

“With this new fair concept, OBO not only brings new systems together, but also people, in a new and modern way. We will have exactly 190,800 seconds to do this, which is how long the international trade fair will be open,” explains Andreas Bettermann, CEO of the OBO Bettermann Group.

Trade visitors can find the products relating to energy‐efficient building system solutions, electrical installations and building infrastructure in Hall 8. The OBO stand is in Hall 8.0/E90.
